On your iPhone, go to “Settings > General > Multitasking & Dock”.

Hold your iPad in landscape position for the multiple app feature to work.

You can move the app divider to adjust the space of the two apps running on split-screen.

Open the Settings and select Homescreen and Dock from the scroll-down menu on the left.

How to Open a Second Item in Split View

Step 1

Swipe from the bottom and pause for a bit to open the dock.

Step 2

Tap and hold the app you want to open and drag it to the left or right of the screen.

Step 3

If two apps are already running in split-screen, drag the new app over the item you want to replace.

This will close the previous app and replace it with the newly launched one. 

Although the split-screen feature is quite convenient and helps to get work done relatively faster, you can always turn it off when you want to avail the full screen of your iPad. 

By following the simple steps discussed in this article, you can easily deactivate the split-screen mode on the iPad. And, if you change your mind about it and want to go back to multitasking, just toggle on the “Allow Multiple Apps”. This will enable the split view and slide over mode again.
