HDMI has not just simplified the way of connecting components together but also enhanced the quality of both audio and video.

Why is HDMI not working on Windows 10?

HDMI is developed to ensure high-definition content on the screen. If your HDMI is not functional, there might be an issue with the HDMI cable or the port. In windows 10, there have been some common issues related to an incompatibility with:

  • The hardware
  • The graphics card driver

HDMI works based on synchronization. It connects readily as both devices communicate with each other known as HDMI Handshake. If the embedded encryption in HDMI is not readable the device will not operate.

Restart and Reconnect Devices

Most of the time, the error occurs due to a booting issue with the device. In case, you find such problems simply reboot and reconnect your devices. For a proper pattern initially:

  • Plug-off the HDMI
  • Switch on your HDMI device i.e. speaker, T.V.
  • Turn on your Windows PC or laptop
  • Now, turn off your HDMI device while keeping the computer system on
  • Then, plug-off all HDMI connections
  • Again, plug-in the HDMI cable to system and device

In this way, the system updates the HDMI information, and this might fix the issue.

HDMI as the default device

If the system does not respond to the above-mentioned fix, the system settings might need a slight change. The Windows 10 computer system might not respond to the HDMI until the device is set as default. To list up your device, Simply:

  • Right-click the speaker icon present at the bottom right corner on your homepage
  • Select the option “Open Sound settings” from the mini dialog box
  • The system will open a mini sound settings window with tabs on the left
  • Select the Playback tab
  • This will show the device listed on your system i.e. Integrated playback speakers and HDMI
  • Select the HDMI device you want to select as default
  • Now click on “Set as default” and then “OK”

In this way, the desired HDMI device will be selected as the default device on Windows 10.

If the still problem persists, then move to manual detection of your device. In Windows 10, the system has provided an easy tracking of devices by a single click of the “Detect switch” option present in the settings option. For this:
