Most smartphone users take screenshots to save text messages, but nothing can beat saving messages in hard copy form!

Let me tell you why!

1. They are indestructible for the most part. I mean, if you keep them safely tucked away in a folder, they would still be there a decade later!

2. They can be used as evidence in court, which is relatively better than showing screenshots on your smartphone.

3. You can print text messages as keepsakes in memory of a loved one.

But, how to print text messages from an iPhone, especially when the messaging app is incompatible with AirPrint

We have discussed 3 ways in which you can print text messages from an iPhone:

  • Via Screenshots
  • Via Email
  • Via third-party tools

Below you will find step-by-step instructions on using each method to get a paper copy of your text messages.

Method# 1 – Print Text Messages from iPhone via Screenshots

We will start with the easiest method: to print text messages from an iPhone via screenshots.

Everything on the iPhone screen, including web pages, maps, and text messages, can be screenshotted and easily printed. The best part about taking screenshots is that you can save all of the relevant information, such as contact information and the date and time of the discussion.

Following are the steps to take screenshots  of text messages and how to print them:

Step 1: Open the text message you wish to print.

Step 2: Take a screenshot by pressing the power and home/volume buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.

The screenshot will be saved in “Photos” on your iPhone.

To take a screenshot, open the text message and press the Power button and Home/Volume button simultaneously for a few seconds.

Step 3: Open the screenshot from “Photos” and click on “Print” at the bottom right corner. This will send the screenshot directly to a printer via AirPrint.

Select the screenshots from the Photos app and tap ‘Print’ to send them to a printer

Printing a screenshot of text messages from an iPhone is a simple process. However, if you need to print out a large number of messages, it may take some time.

Alternatively, these screenshots can also be emailed and printed as photos from your PC or Mac, which brings us to our second method.

Method# 2 – Print out Text Messages from iPhone via Email

If you want to print just a handful of text messages, email is the best option. But, you won’t be able to save the time/date stamps, contact information, and which message was sent or received with this method. Also, you will have to copy and paste each message individually, which might be tiring and time-consuming. However, you will be able to get a print of your texts.

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open the conversation you wish to print in the Messages app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Press and hold the message you wish to print until you see a Copy/More dialogue. Now choose ‘Copy to copy the text to the clipboard.

Step 3: On your iPhone, open the Mail app. Paste the copied text message into the “New Message” form, enter your email id, and click “Send.”

You will now receive the email at your email address.

Open the Mail app, compose a new email, paste the message in it and send it to yourself

Step 4: Open the email and tap on a small red arrow in the bottom right corner. Select the option to print. Then choose an AirPrint-enabled printer from the list and start printing.

You can also use your computer to access your email account and print the email containing your text messages.

But what if you have bulk text messages to print?

We have a method for that too!

Method# 3 – Use Third-party Tools to Export Messages in Bulk and Save as PDFs

When it comes to printing a large number of messages, there’s no better option than to use a third-party app to export them as PDFs and print. You’ll need your iPhone, a USB cord, an iPhone manager app, and a Windows or Mac PC to connect for this process.

Here’s how to go about it:

Step 1: Download a third-party app such as AnyTrans and iMazing on your PC.

Step 2: Connect your iPhone to the PC using a USB cord.

Step 3: Launch the app on your PC, and select your iPhone from the sidebar.

Step 4: Now select “Messages.” The app will extract messages from your latest backup.

Step 5: Now click on the conversation you want to print, and click on “Print” from the options at the bottom. You can also choose “Export as PDF” to save the conversation as a PDF file.

Step 6: Review the “Printing Options” and click on “Print” to confirm and start printing.

With third-party apps, you can print text message conversations in their entirety. However, if you just want to print specific messages from the conversation, you can select them before printing.

Final Words

There are two reliable ways to print text messages from your iPhone quickly: Taking screenshots and saving them as pictures or sending the texts to yourself via email. But, you can also use other tools like the ones mentioned above to print texts in bulk. We hope that these easy solutions will help you decide how to print text messages from an iPhone in a convenient way.
