How to Remove Bubbles from a Screen Protector?

Method 2: Using Oil to Remove Air Bubbles around the Edges

You can remove air bubbles around the edges of a glass screen protector with oil. Here’s how:

Step 1:

Try olive, vegetable, or another translucent cooking oil if the air bubbles are close to the screen protector’s margins. Simply wet the end of a cotton swab, pour 1–2 tsp (4.9–9.9 ml) of the oil into a small dish. Apply a tiny amount of oil to the cotton swab, but not so much that it drips.

Make sure you don’t get any oil inside the device, and your application is as precise as possible.

Step 2:

Work along the edges of the screen protector, shaking off any excess oil with your cotton swab. Apply a tiny amount of the oil to the edges of your screen protector so it can go below it. Air bubbles will be smoothed out by the oil, resulting in a flawless seal.

If the air bubbles don’t vanish after applying the oil, gently lift the edge of your screen protector with your fingernail or a razor blade to allow the oil to enter.

Step 3:

Squeeze your screen protector against the screen until there are no air bubbles around the edge, ensuring that it sticks firmly. Dry the edges surrounding your screen protector with a paper towel and wipe any leftover oil pushed out.

Apply pressure to the screen protector’s edges to see if any oil leaks out from underneath and remove it with a lint-free cloth.
