Whether you’re having problems with your iPhone, such as freezing or glitching,  or If you’re selling or giving it away, resetting the factory settings is the way to go!

Resetting your iPhone to factory settings restores it to its original state. When you bought it: No contacts, playlists, photos, password memory, or anything else you’ve added since then.

However, before you start the process of resetting your iPhone, make a backup of all your data to ensure that you don’t lose any vital information. After you’ve reset your iPhone, you can restore it using your backup.

This guide will run you through the method to reset the iPhone to factory settings. It works with all iPhone models, so whether you have the latest iPhone 12 Pro Max, an iPhone SE, or an older model, it’s covered.

How to Factory Reset your iPhone

The first step in factory resetting your iPhone is to back up your data and sign out of your Apple ID. Here’s how to do it:

Backup your iPhone to iCloud

To avoid losing any unsaved data, backup your iPhone to iCloud. Here are the steps for it:

Step 1:

Go to “Settings app > Apple ID > iCloud” on your iPhone.

Go to your Apple ID from settings and click on it
 Tap on iCloud

Step 2:

Now go to “iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.”

All the data from your iPhone will now be backed up to your iCloud.

Select ‘Back-Up Now’ to manually back up all your information immediately on iCloud

Log out of your Apple ID Account

If you’re getting rid of your phone, make sure you sign out of your Apple ID so no one else can access your account.

On your iPhone, go to “Settings > Apple ID > Sign Out.”

Click Sign Out at the bottom of the page

You will be logged out from your Apple ID. Now comes the most important step: Reset the iPhone to factory settings.
